Not going to lie, I am pretty depressed to be back in grey NYC when FL is 80 and sunny, but here we are. Thank God, summer is coming. I’ve been reading Intermezzo by Sally Rooney and highly recommend it. I recommend all of her books. She is a phenomenal author.
So my college BFF Arella and I stayed with my grandmother at her condo, and since her pool is under renovation we made a couple of Resort Pass reservations. Thursday, we went to B Ocean Resort, which was a reasonable $45 for the day. The service was not great, but the Pina Coladas were pretty good. Would not go back, though.
Friday we went to The Ritz Carlton, which was $100 for the day and the service was fabulous. All the little details were spot on: Ritz branded towels, comfy chaises, fresh strawberry, lemon, and mint water, endless complimentary water bottles, and sunscreen. They had the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had. Would definitely book a Resort Pass at The Ritz again.
And of course we went out for some good food and cooked in too.
Wednesday Dinner: Catch & Cut on Las Olas
Overpriced, but the food was tasty. Arella and I shared a dozen oysters. She ordered a dirty martini and a filet mignon and I had a crisp glass of Rosé and the branzino which was topped with a puttanesca sauce of sorts. Sundried tomato, artichoke, capers, and kalamata olives.
Thursday Breakfast: Delicious Bowl of Oats
Just a simple bowl of microwaved oats topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, sliced banana, peanut butter, a drizzle of pure maple, and a splash of half and half.
Friday Happy Hour: Watermelon Margaritas
My iconic watermelon margaritas always hit the spot.
Casamigos Reposado, the big jigger
Grand Marnier, the small jigger
Juice of one lime
WTR MLN WTR aka watermelon water or fresh pressed watermelon juice, 6-8oz
Tajin for the rim
Dip your designated marg glass in tajin. Fill ice to the top of the glass. Put all the ingredients into your shaker. Shake it up and pour over ice.
Later on, after we cooked a low-key dinner at the condo, Grandma and I went to try Razzleberry’s Homemade Ice Cream at one of their three locations in FL. She ordered the Coffee. I ordered the Java Oreo.
Saturday Brunch: Café Bastille
I ordered their Turkish egg dish. I’ve never had anything like it and it was super fun to eat. The ambiance at Café Bastille’s Ft. Lauderdale location is filled with earthy green tones and situated on a beautiful canal. Their plain croissant was delicious too, as well as the mocha latte with almond milk and the sweetest fresh-pressed Florida OJ. Highly recommend this spot. Very trendy.
Saturday Dinner: Serafina Waterfront Trattoria
Serafina, not to be confused with the Serafina in NYC serves you a classic delicious Italian feast. Spritz game is on point. Arella would not stop talking all night about the branzino she ordered and how delicious it was.
I ordered the massive Chicken Parm and that was amazing, too. We also got sides of broccoli rabe which was honestly overcooked, but still fine. Overall a great meal on the water.
Sunday Dinner & Dessert: Chez Moi
Chicken Piccata with Lemon Risotto and Roasted Asparagus and Coconut Berry Sorbet (with chocolate flakes)
Both of these recipes to drop this week.
