A Detox Mimosa
A bit counterintuitive, I know – but delicious, nonetheless
I decided to make all of this fresh-pressed juice without a juicer on Thanksgiving eve. My parents did have a Cuisinart juicer attachment for lemons, limes, and oranges, so at least that was somewhat helpful in my juicing endeavors.
After misaligning the juicer attachment and creating a puddle of sticky orange juice all over the counter, the juice turned out great. I added it to prosecco, which I am now calling a Detox Mimosa. But it would also taste great mixed with tequila, vodka, or club soda (for a real detox drink). My Nana went the tequila route, my dad went for the true detox with club soda.
Detox Juice Ingredients
2 to 3 oranges, 4 oz
2 limes, 2 oz
4-6 baby cucumbers, peeled, 4 oz
1/2 nub of fresh ginger, peeled
8 oz pomegranate juice, because that seemed like too much effort considering I don’t have an actual juicer - I used POM, but I would also use Lakewood Organic.
If you want to make a bigger batch of detox juice, just double the above measurements.
I juiced everything separately. And I actually added the cucumbers and ginger to a blender with a splash of water and then strained that to get cucumber ginger juice. So after I had three different bowls of juice on my counter, plus the POM, I measured and mixed them to create the detox juice blend.
Detox Mimosa Ingredients
Detox juice
A bottle of your preferred prosecco or champagne
I added 1/3 detox juice to 2/3 prosecco, and it was delicious and festive. I felt equally detoxed as I did tipsy, and honestly, I say that’s a win. Cheers!
